Bolivian Rosewood Bowl no. 7675
Bowl number 7675 is a hand turned bowl made from Exotic Bolivian Rosewood . Each of my bowls are signed, numbered and dated (year). They are finished with a friction polish that's applied while still on the lathe. I will refinish in Kerf's Wood Cream a food safe finish just request after purchase.
This bowl measures 11 1/2" across and is 2 3/4" high. Bowl is shown unfinished.
Bolivian Rosewood - (Machaerium schleroxylon) - also know as Morado, Pau Ferro and Santos Rosewood is an exotic and imported hardwood that is strikingly beautiful. It is sold as a substitute for Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) and it is very difficult to tell the two apart.
The wood has color variations from chocolate or violet-brown to violet streaked with black, often streaked with golden-brown. The grain is straight, sometimes wavy. The texture is medium to coarse and the wood is oily to the touch with a walnut like scent. Takes a beautiful natural polish.
