PLEASE NOTE: this is only available in size K (6.5mm) or smaller or metal tipped.

This beautiful handcrafted crochet hook is made from Pomelle Bubinga.  It's shaped with a larger handle to relieve stress on the hand and wrist when crocheting. The crochet hook has an Ergonomic shape that fits nicely in the hand.

Please see Hook Info for Crochet Hook dimensions. Nelsonwood Hook Info

Because this hook is handcrafted there will be variation in appearance, grain, size and color. While there are slight variation the basic Ergonomic shape is maintained. No two handcrafted hooks will be the same!

Bubinga (Guibourtia spp.) Heartwood ranges from a pinkish red to a darker reddish brown with darker purple or black streaks. Sapwood is a pale straw color and is clearly demarcated from the heartwood. Bubinga is very frequently seen with a variety of figure, including: pommele, flamed, waterfall, quilted, mottled, etc.
Bubinga can grow to very large trees ranging of 130-150 feet tall and 3-6 ft  trunk diameter.
Bubinga has a close resemblance to Rosewood, and is often use in place of more expensive woods. Yet Bubinga also features a host of stunning grain figures which make this wood truly unique. Bubinga also has an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.
Common uses include veneer, inlays, fine furniture, cabinetry, turnings, and other specialty items. Since Bubinga trees can grow very large, natural-edge slabs of the wood have also been used in tabletops and other specialized projects.
