This beautiful crochet hook is made from Brazilian Canarywood with your choice of exotic wood ends and rings. The hook is shaped with a larger handle to relieve stress on the hand and wrist when crocheting. The crochet hook has an Ergonomic shape that fits nicely in the hand.

Please see Hook Info for Crochet Hook dimensions. Nelsonwood Hook Info

Because this hook is handcrafted there will be variation in appearance, grain, size and color. While there are slight variation the basic Ergonomic shape is maintained. No two handcrafted hooks will be the same!

Be sure to read some of my reviews!

Angle or Cross Cut refers to the direction of the grain to the cut of the blade. By cutting the wood this way the hook will show greater variance of patterns, color and some end grain compared to cutting with the grain.

Canarywood (Centrolobium spp.) is an exotic wood that is yellow to orange in color, typically variegated with light to dark red streaking. Tree grows 65-100 feet tall with a 2-3 ft trunk diameter. It has a medium to high luster. It can be somewhat variable in density, it is mostly a hard, heavy and strong wood. Works very easily with both hand and power tools and finishes very smoothly. Uses include construction lumber, railroad crossties, flooring, veneers, boat building, furniture, cabinetry, and turned items. An exceptional exotic wood from Latin America; Brazil, Bolivia.
Spalted Tamarind - (Tamarindus indica) Also called Tamarind. Spalted Tamarind is a beautiful wood from Laos, Southeast Asia.
Much of this wood comes from logs that were either found on the forest floor or were cut and then allowed to spalt in the very damp warm conditions of the jungle. The colors and various line patterns are truly unique from one piece to another. Heartwood has a spectacular background colors of ivory, yellow, and black lines, which gives this such unpredictable landscape effect.

Stabilizition is process that removes all moisture and then the wood is soaked in a stabilization fluid while a under a vacuum. This insure a good penetration of the stabilizing fluid. Then it's in to an oven for 24 hours (or more) to set the fluid in the blank. This process gives the wood a bit of strength and allows a really nice finish.
