I’ve used a number of ergonomic crochet hooks, including some wooden ones; Mr. Nelson’s work puts all of them to shame. I purchased a set of five Ironwood handled hooks with clover inserts and they did not disappoint. The handles fit my hands almost perfectly and the beauty of these hooks is unmatched. Despite being the eighth hardest wood in the world, Mr. Nelson has sculpted the ironwood to perfection. It’s perfectly smooth and practically shines. I would recommend these hooks to anyone who wants a high-quality wooden hook with ergonomic properties; or simply a beautiful piece of art.

This is such a great crochet hook. So smooth and polished. The throat is the proper size ordered. Easy to grip and doesn’t make my hand cramp. They hold up well, my first hook I ordered from Nelsonwood in 2015 and it is still smooth, no splintering and a great tool to use.

Peacock! So I keep thinking they can’t get any better but each time I’m blown away just a little more. The Peacock hook is wicked! The spalted blue tamarind is gorgeous and it feels so good in my hand. This is my smallest metal hook from Bryan thus far and I’m really pleased. If you do Amigurumi and like me have always used a short hook for it like clover soft touch you might really appreciate this big hook handle. I get hand cramps when I crochet in the round because I have a death grip on the hook. With one of these you won’t do that and you’ll find that also relaxes the rest of your body as you crochet. Our craft shouldn’t be painful! 😉 My want list now is a set of my 9 clovers with a pod. My dream wood would be Ironwood but that’s out of my price range right now. What’s your dream hook look like? There is not another person on this planet that I'd buy a crochet hook from, than Bryan! Did you see that? I guess he's me hooked! 😉 Bryan is a stellar guy to deal with. My new hook didn't take more than 3 weeks after I ordered it, for me to have it in my hands. I'd go stir crazy. If I couldn't crochet, with forest fire smoke, so thick, you can't see the house across the street from you. Then, I have HyperCapnia, so I'm on oxygen 24/7, because I don't breathe out enough of my CO2. If I get COVID-19, I'll die inside 12 days. So, I started self isolating March 3rd/20. This was my 1st Nelsonwood Hook purchase. I read reviews, and watched the Bag-O-Day videos recommending these hooks. I've always preferred the in-line hooks by Susan Bates, and when I saw that Bryan makes his hooks with the Bates tip, I knew I had to give it a try. I already knew the hook I received would be beautiful, but let's face it, the hook we use the most is the one that is the most comfortable in our hand! This hook is by far the most comfortable hook I have used in my 30+ years of crochet! This is the only hook I've used since I received it about 3 weeks ago. I've had absolutely no hand fatigue, nor have I experienced any wrist cramping! Plus, my arthritis hasn't acted up since using this hook!! I received my new hooks today and I absolutely love them. When I was finally able to try one, it was quite different than the hooks I'm used to, but I quickly got the hang of the new size, shape and weight of my hook. I asked for one for Christmas and didn't think I was going to get it so I ordered one and now I have two! I have a size 7, pink Larkspur with Yellowheart ends and a size I, pink Larkspur with Purpleheart ends. These are truly works of art that I will enjoy for many years to come. Early this year I ordered the domestic wood set of hooks and since I prefer tapered hooks I ordered it with Boye tips in sizes E,F,G, and H. I have arthritis in my hands and was hoping your hooks would ease the pain.
I just wanted to tell you what a delight it is to crochet with these beautiful hooks! They are the perfect size for my hand. The weight is negligible and the shape allows it to roll smoothly in my hand (up to grasp the yarn down to pull through the stitch) which allows me hours of pain free crocheting. These hooks are fantastic and so beautiful! Multiple surgeries on my fingers, wrists and an elbow had me thinking my days of crocheting were over. But as soon as I started crocheting with one of Bryan's hooks I felt relief from pain and my enjoyment of crochet was back. The tension, pain and stiffness left my fingers, wrists, forearms and elbow. Crocheting for long periods of time is the norm for me now and I can once again enjoy the craft.
Since some of my favorite yarn is very splitty I had sharp tips put on my hooks. Now I realize just how much my fingers feel for the hook as I crochet no matter what yarn I use. The stitches are nicely detailed and the hook goes through the yarn with ease.

I received my first Nelsonwood hook as a gift and wasn't even able to wait a week before I ordered myself a second one. Not only is it a beautiful piece of artistry but the boast about its handle design relieving stress in the hand and wrist is 100% true, (in my humble opinion). I saw an immediate difference in how long I was able to crochet. I have other high end/expensive hooks and especially for the price these blow those out of the water. Can't believe how quickly it got here! Super warm and soft in my hand, the finish is really natural and nice to grip. WORTH EVERY PENNY! I have tried many other wood crochet hooks and these are the BEST! Other wood hooks have skinnier handles which doesn't help enough with wrist fatigue. These are the perfect diameter and I think they are ergonomically correct. They really make a difference. I have used the same crochet hooks for 20 years and got to the point where I could only crochet for 30 minutes at a time before my wrists hurt so much that I had to stop. I started trying all kinds of wood hooks. I saw these on Etsy and ordered two of them in different sizes. It took me two days to really get used to them, but I can now crochet for 3 or 4 hours at a time (I could probably crochet longer, but life gets in the way). They are also beautifully made. They are so gorgeous that you will want to display them. I can't wait to order more!

I used to crochet so tightly I would often have to add a couple of sizes to the hook designated in a pattern (example: pattern calls for a G hook; I would have to use an I hook). Thanks to Bryan's incredible hooks, I can now use the hook size listed in a pattern. This is a miracle in my book! I also totally agree with the reviewer who said Bryan's hooks make working with yarn subject to splitting a lot easier. These hooks are true masterpieces! It took me about 3 days to get used to, but I absolutely LOVE this hook. It's shorter than the thin aluminum hooks I've used in the past, so it did take awhile to adjust to the length, but I no longer have hand pain from working on projects like I did before (I usually crochet for at least an hour every night, so that's a big deal to me). It's much more comfortable to hold as well. It's very well made, and nice to look at. I'll definitely be returning for more hooks in other sizes!

I used to crochet so tightly I would often have to add a couple of sizes to the hook designated in a pattern (example: pattern calls for a G hook; I would have to use an I hook). First of all, speed! I ordered 4 hooks (Kingwood, Bocote, Pink Ivory and Black and White Ebony) and they were at my door 6 days later. 6 DAYS! The week before Christmas! And they are beautiful! I have several other turned wood hooks from a much more expensive site and I'd say these are just as good, if not better, for nearly half the $$ and so much faster. There's also the added bonus of knowing that the guy who answers your questions is the guy who's making your hooks. Bryan was great to work with and is obviously very skilled in his craft. It's so much fun to make things out of yarn with a piece of art instead of a hunk of aluminum!

Peacock! So I keep thinking they can’t get any better but each time I’m blown away just a little more. The Peacock hook is wicked! The spalted blue tamarind is gorgeous and it feels so good in my hand. This is my smallest metal hook from Bryan thus far and I’m really pleased. If you do Amigurumi and like me have always used a short hook for it like clover soft touch you might really appreciate this big hook handle. I get hand cramps when I crochet in the round because I have a death grip on the hook. With one of these you won’t do that and you’ll find that also relaxes the rest of your body as you crochet. Our craft shouldn’t be painful! 😉 My want list now is a set of my 9 clovers with a pod. My dream wood would be Ironwood but that’s out of my price range right now. What’s your dream hook look like? I've always preferred the in-line hooks by Susan Bates, and when I saw that Bryan makes his hooks with the Bates tip, I knew I had to give it a try. These hooks are fantastic and so beautiful! Multiple surgeries on my fingers, wrists and an elbow had me thinking my days of crocheting were over. But as soon as I started crocheting with one of Bryan's hooks I felt relief from pain and my enjoyment of crochet was back. The tension, pain and stiffness left my fingers, wrists, forearms and elbow. Crocheting for long periods of time is the norm for me now and I can once again enjoy the craft.

Speaking of grip - I almost had to learn how to crochet all over again, this hook makes me hold it SO DIFFERENTLY. WORTH EVERY PENNY! I have tried many other wood crochet hooks and these are the BEST! Other wood hooks have skinnier handles which doesn't help enough with wrist fatigue. These are the perfect diameter and I think they are ergonomically correct. They really make a difference. I have used the same crochet hooks for 20 years and got to the point where I could only crochet for 30 minutes at a time before my wrists hurt so much that I had to stop. I started trying all kinds of wood hooks. I saw these on Etsy and ordered two of them in different sizes. It took me two days to really get used to them, but I can now crochet for 3 or 4 hours at a time (I could probably crochet longer, but life gets in the way). They are also beautifully made. They are so gorgeous that you will want to display them. I can't wait to order more!

It took me about 3 days to get used to, but I absolutely LOVE this hook. It's shorter than the thin aluminum hooks I've used in the past, so it did take awhile to adjust to the length, but I no longer have hand pain from working on projects like I did before (I usually crochet for at least an hour every night, so that's a big deal to me). It's much more comfortable to hold as well. It's very well made, and nice to look at. I'll definitely be returning for more hooks in other sizes!

First of all, speed! I ordered 4 hooks (Kingwood, Bocote, Pink Ivory and Black and White Ebony) and they were at my door 6 days later. 6 DAYS! The week before Christmas! And they are beautiful! I have several other turned wood hooks from a much more expensive site and I'd say these are just as good, if not better, for nearly half the $$ and so much faster. There's also the added bonus of knowing that the guy who answers your questions is the guy who's making your hooks. Bryan was great to work with and is obviously very skilled in his craft. It's so much fun to make things out of yarn with a piece of art instead of a hunk of aluminum!
