Be sure to read some of my reviews!

Please note while I try to get as much "red" as I can in the hook body, there is no guarantee of color. I can't see inside the wood and color may be more or less red compared to the starting block.

Box Elder Maple , Acer negundo, is also commonly known as ashleaf maple, Manitoba maple, box-elder maple, and western box-elder. This deciduous maple tree is a small-to-medium-sized tree, reaching heights of 50 to 75 feet, with a trunk diameter up to 4 feet. The trunk is relatively short and tapering, and the crown is spreading and bushy. It has a thick trunk and upright branching habit, but is more often seen as a smaller tree with cane-like, bright green branches.
Box Elder trees are fast growing and tolerate poor conditions. These shade trees have brittle wood. Box Elder bugs eat seeds on female trees. Although it grows best on moist soils, Box Elder is drought and cold resistant. It can also tolerate flooding for extended periods (up to a month). The seeds are a source of food for birds and mammals, and are important because they stay on the tree through winter, when other food resources are scarce.

This is my fourth hook made by Mr. Nelson, and it is the most handsome to date. The box elder reminds me of granite in the way the flecks of color are distributed throughout the wood. The turned bloodwood finial looks like stacked cats-eye gems; a line of light reflects from deep within the wood grain. Besides being beautiful to look at, it is a joy to hold and use as a tool. The smooth warm finish offers little resistance to any of the yarns I've tried with it. I'm looking forward to start a new project with it soon.

I got my hook today and it’s gorgeous! I chose the pink ivory ends with 2 birds eye maple rings and it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I’m so glad I decided to get one. It’s going to take a minute to get use to because it’s a bit slippery but honestly that’s probably just me. It’s really comfortable to hold, I’ve only just started using it but it’ll be my favorite hook I feel sure! Thank you for such a beautiful hook, it’s truly amazing! I can’t wait to order another one! 😊 you are blessed with talents & skills that others wish they were capable of! 🙏

I ordered the pink ivory tips on my hook and it is STUNNING. I think it's my new favourite. The hook is turned beautifully, and the pink ivory shimmers and goes so well with the box elder centre. The pictures do not do justice to how lovely this hook is!

I really love this crochet hook. I ordered the pink ivory wood tips on my hook and am very pleased with that combination. The colors of the wood are amazing and the wood is polished to a lovely shine. The crochet hook feels so good in your hand and the design makes fatigue so much less than a regular thin hook.

This hook is very vibrant and sometime you need a hook that doesn't look like any run of the mill. I am delighted with the hook and I can't praise Nelsonwood enough for the care he puts in crafting each hook. My hands doesn't hurt when I crochet because the hook is ergonomically design and it makes a difference.
